   I disagree with Gabe, this is the position of so many Americans, notably young people. This kind of stuff can be eye opening to people. Poor people do need knit socks though, so there is that.

   N–dude, its not the young people who hold this position. Its the old pieces of shit who run everything. Look at the poll and survey data–young people are overwhelmingly more “liberal” (by American standards–which of course is not very) than people over 40-45 yet are much less likely to participate in the voting system. So, there’s a disproportionate number of old, conservative, white, assholes who think they should run the world deciding things–and that map is sadly how they see it. The young know (for the most part) better than them that this isn’t true. Give it 10-15 years, you’ll see a big change over here.
